As we observe National Adoption Month, there is no better way to honor the values at the heart of BraveLove than by celebrating someone who has embodied them so fully and made a significant impact on the adoption community: Laura Bruder.
On November 7th, we gathered for an unforgettable evening at the home of our founder, Ellen Porter, to recognize a defining chapter in BraveLove’s story. Surrounded by friends, family, and individuals impacted by adoption, we honored Laura—our very first employee and, now, officially named Co-Founder of BraveLove.
For over twelve years, Laura has been BraveLove’s heart, purpose, and passion. She joined our mission when it was still a vision, breathing life into it with her dedication, her insightful leadership, and her gift for building community. Laura didn’t just work for BraveLove; she nurtured it, taking a bold idea and transforming it into a movement that now inspires, supports, and strengthens individuals and families across the nation.
Laura’s impact goes far beyond her title or achievements. Her ability to foster relationships has turned BraveLove into a close-knit community, one that welcomes and uplifts birth mothers, adoptees, adoptive families, and professionals. Through her compassionate spirit, Laura built a space bound by a shared commitment to the bravery and love of adoption. Her work ensures that BraveLove not only celebrates adoption but also supports those impacted by it in meaningful ways.
Naming Laura as co-founder during National Adoption Month feels especially fitting. This title not only recognizes the mark she has left on our organization but also celebrates the legacy of dedication and love she has created within the adoption community.
As BraveLove transitions into its next chapter, we carry Laura’s spirit, passion, and vision forward, inspired to build, connect, and support others while navigating their adoption journey.
