One word to describe how you felt the moment you discovered you were pregnant.

Shocked

Why did you choose adoption?

I chose adoption for a couple of reasons. I had my tubes tied after having my third child. I later found out that getting my tubes tied did not protect me from getting pregnant because I was 3 months pregnant. I knew there had to be a reason as to why I had gotten pregnant. I trusted and believed in God’s words to me and that was adoption.

What's been the hardest part of being a birthmother?

The hardest part of being a birthmother to me is the feeling of loss.

Looking back, what do you wish you had known then that you know today?

I wish I had known the real meaning of open adoption then like I know today.

If you could dispel an adoption myth - what would it be?

The myth I wish I could dispel would be ‘Nobody can love a child like they love their own.’ My birth daughter is loved by her parents so deeply. In my eyes she is their own so I disagree with that myth.
What's been the greatest reward or surprise of being a birthmother?

The greatest reward has been to be able to watch a once couple become a beautiful family.

What's your greatest wish for birthmothers today?

My greatest wish for all birthmothers is to have strength for open adoption so that when the child is older he/she can thank the birthmother for the life she chose for him/her.

What excites you about BraveLove?

BraveLove excites me by the way they are spreading the word on open adoption, and of course the Super Hero video. That video turned my tears into smiles and left me nothing else to say but I AM A PROUD SUPER HERO!!!
